It helps to have a knowledgeable mortgage broker on your side and this is where Premium Finance can assist. Contact us to book a time to talk through your refixing or refinancing requirements. This is also an opportune time to check you have the right level of mortgage protection insurance in place.
Refixing
In New Zealand mortgage terms are usually anywhere from 6 months to 5 years which means over the lifetime of a 25 to 30 year mortgage, you may choose to refix the loan many times. Of course there is the option to leave the loan floating but the interest rates can often be higher than the fixed options.
Refinancing
Refinancing is when you pay out the loan by taking out a new loan with either the same lender or a new lender. You may be refinancing to get a lower interest rate (if the numbers stack up) or you might be borrowing more to do some renovations for example, or you may be paying a lump sum and taking a loan for a smaller amount.
